CTD newbie... stock rear lift blocks?
CTD newbie... stock rear lift blocks?
Hey guys. I'm new here (obviously) and you guys have an awesome forum over here. It reminds me a lot of the pirate 4x4 forums... lots of helpful posts! Anyway, I just bought a 93 4x4 ext cab LE CTD. I was checking out the rear end and I saw HUGE lift blocks, probably 5-6". To tell you the truth they look kinda scary. So I came here and searched, and found that the 91.5 and up blocks are taller than the older ones? Are these huge blocks stock? They almost look like it, since there is the bumpstop built into the block itself. Wouldn't this cause axle wrap problems? I come from the toyota 4x4 crawler area, so running blocks this big on a crawler would be insane, so maybe that was why I was so suprised.
Thanks! Really loving this forum so far!

If you look at your spring pack they are twice as thick as what you would find on a crwaler. They are designed NOT to flex but for weight carrying ability. I have never noticed any axle wrap on my '92.
axle wrap
Wow, my 92 4X4 has tons of axle wrap unloaded in the dirt. with a trailer on it, or on pavement its fine though. Im planning on buying huge lift leafs from superlift( forgot exact height, but they were about 7-9") and removing the 6" or so lift block from the rear end, that way i can gain a bit of lift and get rid of those blocks, I'll be accompanying that with a set fo either 2 or 4 " lift springs up front, havent decided yet. I dont have to have to do ANY drivetrain modifications and some say you do, some say you dont with the 4" springs. I wouldn't worry about them too much, their stock, Im only getting rid of due to my usage of the truck.

You may want to look at skyjacker, quality is a little better than superlift. From what I have read skyjacker is very stout for 3/4 ton trucks..(just my 2 cents) I'm running skyjacker on my CJ-7. Truck will get 2" skys in the front when I drive over a pot of gold.
