Try operating your cruise control with your o/d switch turned off

Mine was the speed sensor on the transmission. Picked up a new one at Auto Zone and fixed the problem.

I have done every test in the FSM on my cruise system, replaced every part other then the clock spring and my cruise will still not hold a steady speed....wants to continually increase in speed, sometime slowly and other times like I mashed the throttle to the floor.

TC, have you opened up that servo, and cleaned off the springs and lifters in there? Mine was doing the same, then quit one day. Found a service task on it on YouTube, and fixed it completely.
The one on YouTube, if my memory serves me, the guy opened his up from his 2ndGen, but it was the same servo as ours. There's a couple of vids. It's not the one where a guy gets another servo from the junkyard and swaps parts from that onto his, and solders some pieces. The video I followed just shows a guy opening his up, cleaning and re lubeing certain parts, then closing it back up.

Having the pump turned up and a 3,200 spring makes them twitchy and harsh on a manual.
