Crew Cab question
Crew Cab question
There's a 4x4 crew cab flat bed sitting not too far from me that I'm gonna have a look at. Maybe a silly question, but was factory 4x4 an option for the crews? All that I have seen have been 2wd....Next question is running gear....prolly nothing that will stand up to a CTD I imagine. This project will not involve a donor truck as it's just not in the budget. I WILL get back into a 1st gen, by hook or by crook. We have an 08 superduty v10 that I can't afford to drive to the bottom of the road more than once a week and my 96, well, awesome engine, everything else was garbage--never again
So, in short:
factory 4x4?
Running gear up to the task of VE torque?
Thanks fellas! I can't wait to start posting as a first gen owner again!

As long as you aren't going to push huge horsepower and keep it conservative, I don't see why the D60 rear shouldn't hold up. There are guys running around in RC SB 2nd gens with the chrysler 8" and some chevy guys running with a 10 bolts or whatever the 1/2 ton 2wd rear is.

So being a flatbed they either extended the frame or put a short flat bed on it? Haha.
Sounds pretty cool. Get some pics of it for us
And i was pretty sure on the front diff, on the little wings that come off the pumpking. It should say 60 on one of those flat spots. I think mine does.

I'm still running my stock open Dana 60 with 3.54's. The only differnce is the dana wall have a small chrysler U-joint yoke on the front. I'm still running mine this way...haven't got around to getting a new yoke for it yet.
Yeah, it's a short flat bed. Looks kinda goofy. If I get the truck, it will get a regular bed. Would love a long bed. I've been in on a couple frame stretches lately, so I may try my hand at it. Hafta spend the $$ on a CTD first though. The truck looks lifted maybe 4-6'', has some big-ish tires, maybe 37's and prolly a wore out 440. Hopefully I'll get time to run up there this weekend and poke around.
