Crank Sensor???

What does this sensor actually do??. I know it must have something to do with my after market tach. Also right after I bought the truck, I had a no charging problem and they told me it was the connection to the sensor. What get's effected if your air gap is not right?? Before I removed it the TST instructions said to check it. My gap was only .035". I read it should be .049 - .051 Nothing seems to be going smoothly.(If it has **** or wheels, sooner or later it will give you problems)

It controls or contributes to charging, a/c, overdrive and the Auto Shut Down. So if these other things work it may not be your problem. Gap should be 50 but at times reducing that to 40 can cure some ails.

Thanks. Maybe the dealer way back then closed the gap and it was the connection. Who knows. When I go and put this back together, I will set the recommended .050. I have'nt had any issues in the stuff you mentioned. Thanks again
