Correct threads on top of injector

I'm going to TRY to install a new set of injectors on Sunday. I've asked a few questions here and there, but the best response I have gotten is that the treads on top of the injector, where the main fuel connects to is 14mm. I tried a 14mm nut on one today and it just slipped over the threads, tried a 12mm it went almost 1 turn on the threads. The 12mm was 12mmX1.75 threads. Does anyone know the correct thread for the injectors so I can make a "puller" that will fit correctly and not mess up the threads so the injectors can be reused.
THANKS

I believe it was a 12 X 1.5. I jsut took my new injector into the hardware store and found what fit.

Yep, 12x1.5 is it. The 2nd gen 12v's use 14x1.5.

Re:Correct threads on top of injector

I looked at my 12x1.75 tap and also the 12X1.5 tap, on the 1.5 it looked like a "fine" thread. The injectors I have are the Lucas/Delphi pods. The threads on them look more to be a course thread. I HATE METRIC CRAP. I guess I''l break one injector line loose in the morning and make sure the line will atleast screw onto the injector, before I get too involved in it. I'd hate to replace all 6 and then find out the lines won't screw on.
Thanks guys

Re:Correct threads on top of injector

I wouldn't worry they will fit fine.

As a side note a 1/4 NTP pipe thread will screw onto the injector. It is a bit loose but will snug up to the shoulder of the injector body. A cheap puller can be made by using a couple of pipe couplings, a 6" pipe nipple and some large washers or larger pipe coupler that will fit over the nipple.

Be sure to clean the injector bores before you put the new ones in.

Re:Correct threads on top of injector

Jbolt, I used a 1/4" pipe coupling, I ran a 1/2-13 tap in one end, screwed a piece of 1/2 all thread with a 3/4x4" pipe slid on, put a 1/2 washer and nut on top, out they popped. Had all 6 out and new ones installed in less than 1 hour. It was a breeze. Went for a short "test" drive down the road from the shop, I didn't see mr. police man sitting in a parking lot when I kinda "very gently" mashed the go pedal. I had to explain that I had just installed new injectors, thank God, I had the old ones behind the seat, I fed him the line that the injector pump was getting the air out of them, that's why the truck belched SO MUCH BLACK SMOKE ;D ;D. I wanted to see what it would really do this afternoon coming home, so I nailed it on a long stretch of road, SMOKE, SMOKE, & more SMOKE, 28-29 psi boost, and 1300* , I think I may need to make some "adjustments", say maybe a turbo and timing, but it boogies now.

So what injectors did you put in? From the sounds of the smoke, I would guess POD's?

Yeh they where, a little TOO MUCH smoke, I'll run them for a while and see how the do, they don't really smoke very much just driving normal, but they do when you kinda mash it a little, and BAD at WOT, but I may also look at going with a different kind, if I can still get the power with less smoke. Anybody got any goods Ideas??? Unburnt fuel is really just a waste of money anyway, fun to see at times, but not everytime.

Jbolt, I don't think that would fly out where you live, they'd call the EPA on you in a heart beat. The cop did have a, HOW can I say it where it won't be censored, a grin like " a possum eatting SOMETHING". He KNEW what I was doing ;D ;D, but he did inform me that my license had expired last month and told me that even tho I had a current pistol permit, that it was not really considered concealed, I have a holster bolted to the side of the console, for "easy" access , but the law here is "if you can't see it, it's concealed" ;D. He did follow me about 2 miles down the road AFTER I left our shop, she didn't smoke AT ALL.
