So with my slight fuel mods, if I add a 16cm housing and a 60mm wheel I shouldnt have any issues with my egt's? I do work the truck. Towing 12000 to 14000lbs at a whim. I am searching for a nice used 16cm housing. I might end up buying one new from PDR at $165. Aswell as a 60mm compressor wheel. Thanks for your info guys!

If you're going to be towing, with fuel mods, I think you will be better off in the long run, getting a bigger turbo. You would probably have your eye on the pyro pretty often. I would go for a 62/71/14 S300, it will tow like a dream.

i agree, even with the GDS kit and mild pump mods i always had to watch the EGT gauge when towing. It was easily controllable but you could not be an idiot

Yeah it is a turbo. In my opinion it is the best all around single charger for these trucks. With a 14cm housing it spools real well, and will handle a lot of power. More power than most first gens will ever throw at them.

The only downside is, they are pretty hard on the wallet. Over 1K...

Thank you for letting me know. I want a great bang for the buck but that kind of money I dont have. Or in better words, if I would spend that kind of money my better more beautiful half would definitly leave!!! So the 16cm housing and 60mm spinwheel is my best bet! I have been told that my egt's would still be ok!

But then again he has the water/methanol which is like a "chemical" intercooling. A truck without it would see higher EGTs especially with a larger injector.
It's a 6 blade vs 8 blade impeller, both are 60 mm.

Just because it's on my truck does not mean it's a good combination. 6x16's are too much for a hybrid turbo.

What are the pros and cons between the 6 and 8 blade wheel? Which is better for what?

There's not a mouse fart's difference between them. If you stick with the stock intercooled injectors, a hybrid will be enough. If you go with bigger injectors, don't waste money upgrading the stock turbo, get a bigger one.

So will the hybrid be enough with stock non/ic injectors? Gotta be much better then the stock h1c doesn't it?

Non/ic injectors wil still run hot with the pump turned up enough. But with a 60mm hybrid, that combo is plenty manageable EGT-wise and probably the best low-budget bang for the buck.

I beat on my 60mm with 52psi and so far so good. Max EGT I've seen is 1450* at 100mph in 4th gear. Its not enough turbo for my needs but in the mean time it seems to be holding its own. Sounds good too. lol

yeah, my egts get hot towing. i just need to fiddle with the timing and maybe swap out the fuel pin and it should lower them if i need to tow a heavy load. the most i tow is a flatbed with a bobcat. so i dont really need to.
