Holset compressor maps seem pretty hard to come by. Or maybe people just don't care enough to study them?

Our H1c's don't even have compressor maps.

Well I guess we just have to live with that then. Unless you want to switch to a garrett. They have plenty of compressor maps.

Yup, they even have an HX35! Go to

http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...ge_Cummins.htm

and about 1/2 way down the page you'll see a compressor maps link to a pdf under the "downloads" section. They have the stock HX35 compared to Garrett's upgrade turbo.

I don't think so. You basically have to test a turbocharger to failure to get a compressor map, while monitoring boost, speed, etc, that's why you hardly ever see maps for anything other than pretty major turbo manufacturers.

Also, a turbo can be pretty far off the map and still survive for a while--pretty much all companies build in about a 20% fail safe on their ratings. I plotted Buck Spruill's (9-second Duramax with nitrous) GT4202 turbo on a Garrett compressor map printed on an 8 by 11 sheet of paper. It wasn't even on the page

well... Not what I was looking for. Maybe its the same as the turbobygarrett site, but here it is. I know I had some of Hy35w and the HE351, but the forum I was on is all paranoid and you have to have passwords to see everything probably due to some personal conflicts. Drama...

Anyway, here is what I did have. http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/...any=1&family=4

If found this great site that you just plugged in all sorts of variables like RPM, desired boost, temperature before and after intercooler, and all sorts of stuff. Anyway, it would plot where you are on that map. The most efficient zone is in the middle of the iso bars there. However like JQMile said... people run all over the place on these maps it seems. Guys use HX50's on wicked sooped 3.0L MB diesels in Finland, and that just doesn't make sense by reading the Map. Better just going with what's known to work from advise on here.

Trip is allright. Our ship is barely picking up the North America satalite signals for our VERY slow internet. I'm in Bahia Blanca, Argentina discharging cargo now, then slowly steam up to Trinidad at economy speed to pick up more. Hopefully flyin home from there. I got some parts to put on the old girl and I'm getting anxious!
