Upgrade Turbo

My friend has a 92 diesel, would a turbo off an 06 work, and what would he have to do to make it work. Thanks

it all depends thiers a few people running the he351 turbo but if its a 6.7l engine they have varible vains and thats a little tricky to make work.

Its an 06 so its a 5.9, it will work well, you need to get a 4in flange for the downpipe, fab up an intercooler pipe, or reclock the compressor housing. You also need to pull the studs out of the turbo flange, probably reclock the exhaust housing to get the oil feed/drain to line up. No big deal really and the guys that have them are very pleased.

Thanks Soggy, my friend helped me with the install of my turbos so I'm sure he will be able to make it happen. Great info.

End of 07, you could get either 6.7 or 5.9 in 07

To answer the question, yes an 06 turbo can fit on a 92 with some work.

i love mine...still no waste gate tho, 50 plus psi makes scary sounds when you get carried away and let it. and it will spin the turbo backwards if you lift hard and kill the engine like a pulling tractor...need BOV and to hook up mt gate with the boost controller
