Clutch master cylinder bracket bending

Felt a pop and lost most of my clutch pedal, master cylinder now pointed to starboard. Twisted and pulled out the cylinder and saw the bracket was bent. Looked under the dash and all the bolts looked like they were tight, used a number 2 tire iron and a dead blow to drive the bracket back from the firewall side, twist locked the mc back in, got one clutch release and then it popped and bent again. Had to cram a piece of wood in there until I have time to pull the dash and see where the problem is, but I suspect a broken weld and or torn metal.
412k miles, stuff wears out I guess.

Wow....that is not a flimsy bracket either. Few minutes with a welder and grinder should have you back in service. Those brackets are fetching a pretty penny now days...so better to repair what you have.

I have been pretty mean to that clutch pedal speed shifting and stuff for years now.
Not about to stop now, so better weld it up good! As it is with the wood wedge in there I have more pedal than I have in a long time and it is throwing off my shift timing!

Something is cracked where it bolts in and is flexing. I am building those brackets on my cnc machine and they are stout. I just make them from 14ga steel. I am sending one to a friend made out of 16 ga to see if the master cyl fits properly before I sell them.
Send me or post a pic of the damage if you get a chance.
Mike
