Anyone tried to fit the upgraded hydraulics from southbend on a first gen? Or any other setup for that matter. I can't find much info on the mounting specs and such even though it sounds like an easy install on the newer generations.

Mine isn't bad but it gets quite a bit of abuse when the tempetures fall off the bottom of the thermometer. I was thinking the upgrade might just hold up a bit better and work better in the real cold.

I'm just thinking ahead while I have a slow moment at work tonight.

I would think if the stroke is the same on the cyl. it should be able to be used. The only other thing would be the mounting but if you have a welder some imagination and know how you can make anything work.

 

I wouldn't think that the stroke would matter that much. The M/C rod is adjustable and it is matched to work with the Slave. I'm thinkin that a mounting solution may be all that's needed. If I had the $$$$ I'd order on to look at and play with.

 

Check the classifieds and see if you can find the "upper" part ( I don't know the correct name) that goes into the fire wall for cheap and compare the 2 rather then spend the $ on a new one that you are unsure will work at all.

 

they are pretty tough I run a 3600 sb dd and never had a problem.from lookin at it compared to the 2nd gens, the 1st gens are bigger if that means anything

 

What's bigger? The Master, The slave, Both? Are the mounts similar?

I know It's tough but there might be something better. IDK. All I know is at -40* or -50* when you step on the clutch, it's like pumping concrete with a squirt gun... I don't know if perhaps I should try to change the fluid or what...
