clutch hydraulics dying?

after i pulled out of the driveway on to the road tonight and went to push in the clutch to shift i noticed my clutch pedal was about halfway down and when i let it out the clutch engaged hard and the pedal still only came halfway up so i pulled it up and pumped it a few times and now it seems to be working normal. this is the first time it had done this. it that a sign that the clutch master cylinder needs to be replaced.

Likely the slave is leaking, if you cannot smell brake fluid in the cab.

If either fails, replace both, or you'll soon be posting again.
