clock spring has nothing to do with 5,9, it's strictly dodge...call dealer

no 96 wont work. none available from dealer for long time now. a Dorman 525-104 should work( depending wether you have paddle switches or thumbar) but not plug and play , will have to splice in to existing wiring. it will have airbag wire which you wont use. but it will work

I took one out of a junk Dakota for my 93. There was a write up about it but I cannot find it. I do not remember the exact years but since there were a lot more Dakotas made compared to our big trucks it was easier to find one in a junk yard. good luck.

If you're careful you can sometimes take a clockspring apart and re-solder wires where they connect to the housing. I did that on an XJ Cherokee clockspring once and it held for quite a while. Was still working when I sold the Jeep.

One more reason I like my 1990. also no TPS and the voltage regulator takes less time to change that it takes to get the tools.
I don't know what I am looking at here but it looks good on paper.

Are you meaning Vacuum pump? Where is the vacuum pump? Or dump?

My guess is at the cruise servo. Which is what holds that vacuum. You should be able to find it on the drivers fender well. Should have a vacuum hose to it. I never really paid much attention but I would think all vacuum functions would have to go through there.

My clock spring broke as well. If you're looking for another alternative other than trying the Dakota/Parts truck replacement, here's what I did. I traced and pulled out the wiring and connected them to mini momentary rocker switches on the dash. There's an cruise on/off circuit which I wired together so its always on (I never understood why there's an option to turn your whole cruise circuit off? Either set it or tap the brake...done...). I have 2 momentary switches so you can push it once to SET, or hold to DECELERATE. Same with RESUME and ACCELERATE. Surprisingly, my horn still worked through my clock spring. You can find the wires easy enough with the factory service manual. Took me an afternoon and a few beers.

Good luck!

PS: Make sure you use blade-type connectors at the switches, in case you ever need to remove the dash its easier to 'plug' and 'unplug'.

I did this on my 93 Dodge 5 years ago, still working fine.
