clicking starter
So i just finished converting my truck to veggie oil. went to start it up but all im getting is a fast click click click. every few tries it will try and turn over and the fan will move a half rotation but thats it. and then most attempts it wont even turn over. Also a little puff of smoke came from the positive terminal on the battery which seemed to be heating up.
the truck started and ran fine befor i did the fuel conversion, so i was thinking maybe the battery just drained while i was workin on it for a couple days, so i tried a different battery, same thing, tried jump starting with another vehicle, same thing and the cables started heating up. could it just be shorting out somewhere between the postive and the starter? I think its just a coincidence that this is happening now that the conversion is done but i could be wrong, i just cant think of anything that would have caused these symptoms.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mr Grim,
Clean you battery cables good and then make sure they are tight on the post.
Unless you have some killer jumper cables like I do, you need to have the donor alternator charge up your battery at a fast idle for awhile before you try and turn the key.

seems like that did the trick, they were pretty corroded. fired up first try after cleaning the terminals and wires and posts. im glad it wasnt any of the fuel line conversion stuff i did. just weird coincidence that it happened same time.
