Clean those A/C coils!!!

So I did the a/c duct cleaning and I don't think many will top this pile!
The a/c gets colder and it blows alot harder too. I also used some a/c coil cleaner I picked up at casa depot.

I just cleaned mine out last week. I cut out the top part of the plastic grille where you cannot see it then I made a flexible wand that I hook up to my shop vac, I can reach all the way to the end of the evap box and suck out all of the trash.
Don’t know where they come from but I get a bunch of little leaves, and sometimes napkins and plastic bags from the floorboard.

LOL Yeah, I thought I'd found a rat nest at first but it was just leaves and stuff. I still can't figure out how the stick got in there????

Well doesn't that beat all!

I can't believe you just trashed a rare and expensive factory option like that! That was your emergency signal/warming fire starter kit. Dodge put them in the AC area to keep the tinder and kindling dry and easy to light just in case you got stranded in the wilderness. All you need is a match.

AC Duct

I cleaned mine out a couple of years ago, couldn't believe the junk I got out of there. I cut out the front and replaced with some thin aluminum plate. AC certainly blew more air and was certainly cooler.

Just to the left of the passenger side lower vent. Check out the sticky for complete directions.

My 93 is clean but the old 86 gasser had a mouse carcass and a body dust covered piece of Scotchbrite (from a previous wreck I assume). Might want to whip up a set of these to help postpone the next cleaning

What was I thinking??!!!?? Now my emergency fire starting material is gone!!! Guess I'd just have to punch a hole in the fuel tank and light that! Yeah.....that'd work!

My suggestion on cutting the access port is to use a dremel and a 1/8" sawbit. I was afraid I'd go to deep with a jigsaw plus all the back and forth vibration might have damaged something. The sawbit just rotates and cuts and you can keep the depth really shallow so those coils won't bite it.
Nice writeup Chrislib. I may have to do that one day.
BTW Pred, here's the link to the sticky. Mine looks as good as the finished product there. I was pleased!

Good luck!

I cut mine and covered the damage with aluminum diamond plate. There is a pic in my gallery. I removed an equivilant to a quart container of debris. Saved myself hundreds on a fan motor replacement.

Mine was full. If you put your ac on MAX. you can look inside the grill to the far right and see the junk.

Well it sounds like something I should do but do not like cutting, are there any alternatives?
