A clean Cummins is a HAPPY Cummins

Did a real thorough underhood clean up today in anticipation of the coming BOMB`ing this week. Had to cleanse 170k of builtup crud and grime, after i did it I took her out to get everything dried off, darned WIF lamp came on for about 10 min....whats with that? I`ve seen a couple of old posts about that, either way it went off by itself . The funny thing is I SWEAR it ran better, I figure the old gal must be happy, if she only knew whats in store .

Well worth 5 hp on the scale. I am surprised that you thought it was faster? Mine is usually slower due to driving with the hood open showing the nice looking motor

I pressure wash my engine at least 6 times a year. I always try to keep the grime off by spraying the engine down with Simple Green first. So far I havn't hurt anything.

Funny thing I noticed the same thing about my truck, it always seems to run better after it has been cleaned

You probably got some water on the sensor at the bottom of the fuel filter.

I used a can of "Gunk" from the local autoparts store, let that soak for about a 1/2, rinsed it off and then used Simple Green @100%, helped to clean all the Gunk residue off. I`m a BIG fan of Simple Green, has 100`s of uses (like cleaning all the crud off of the driveway AFTER cleaning the Cummins ).

I wash mine down after every oil change. When we built the house, we had a garden hose faucet tapped into the hot water heater. Set the heater at about 160F and it cleans the road crud right off.....
It's alot easier to spot a problem developing if you can notice a leak or such ASAP, and clean engines DO seem to run better....
