The wire(s) to my cigarette lighterwas cut by the previous owner. I saw in the wiring diagram which fuse goes to it , how do I rewire the lighter,? I just need it for cellphone charging etc. Is it as simple as just running a wire to the lighter.

 

Never looked at my '92 but most are grounded at their mounting point and have one hot wire that runs to a spade connector on the lighter. If I was starting from scratch I'd run a fused always hot wire to it so you could use it when the ignition is off too.

I bought a couple marine power ports that I plan to install in the console and use to charge things and get the cords off the dash.

 

Do like KRB says and just run a fused all-the-time-HOT wire to it.

That little bitty factory wire is just a truck fire fixing to happen.


Also, the way Dodge hooked it up, it is an extreme annoyance to have to have the key ON before it has power.
