Re:Check Those Transfer Pumps Fellas

Found another one.....looks strangely familiar.....
With the 6-8psi output, maybe there's no need for a regulator...

That last pump looks good on the psi specs. However, would a little more psi be better? Say around 10psi? Here is the Aeromotive regulator that the 24v guys are using. Aeromotive Regulator

There's PSI and then there is GPH. WHat kind of GPH rating at what PSI is required? I have heard of some guys using the Holley pumps too.

Jay

What is the stock pressure for the lift pump on our CDT someone said about 7psi is that correct?. Could this be a source of low power in the low end also?

Paws...the psi should be around 6-7psi at idle. Yes, low fuel psi will effect the low end. But you should notice a top end lag before the bottom. Usually when the bottom end fuel psi drops off, the pump is toast. Mine was dead at 0psi idle. I noticed the top end more than the bottom.

I've used two of these on gas applications before with good luck. I believe they run $80-90. Holley also sells a higher pressure "blue" pump which I believe comes with a regulator. The Carter electric posted by formula looks good too. Might have to ask the manufacturers about using any of these with diesel.

Re:Check Those Transfer Pumps Fellas

Was at Autozone today browsing around. I found a mini fuel pressure gauge 0-15psi (Spectre brand I believe). It has a 1/8 NPT brass end. I picked it up for about 10 bucks. It works great with Rods 1/8NPT tapped high flow banjo fitting on the outlet side of the filter. I dont know how it will hold up with the pressure spikes of the transfer pump, but we will see.
