Check you wastegate resistors fellas!
Well I like a lot of others simply put a resistor in when I removed my stock charger. It has run fine no codes, no issues. I used the normal resistor eveyone uses, I dont remember the size off the top of my head.
Long story short mine is tucked all the way dwn by the oil pan well away from heat. I crawled underneath it the other day and to my suprise it was melted and smelled like an electrical fire waiting to happen. I quickly ordered a plug from CPP. I took some pics but it was with my phone and they do it no justice, I can tell you it looked like it was on its way to meltdown and an engine fire. To the point I will be picking up a small exinguisher to keep in the rig, I know how slow the Fire Department is to respond :rof, and I can only imagine what it must be like watching your rig burn and melt as a bunch of guys hack away trying to get your hood open because the hood release cable has melted through.
Been there on many other peoples vehicles and done that :S:.
So here is a small pic of the resistor, wish I used my big camera. You can see its melted on the left, the wires never crossed or touched but it sure melted the heat shrink and electrical tape around it.

On a side note a member reminded me they are 100 ohm resistors, mine for whatever reason wasn't happy.

"Waste Gate Resistor" I am not famaliar with it or its function. Tell you the truth never heard of it before which doesn't mean anything I can be told something today and by tonight I have to be told again. lol
Yeap, got the plug unit from HTT back in the day.
On the 04.5 and up trucks when you upgrade the turbo you need a way to fool the ECM that the wastegate actuator is not plugged up, hence the resistor.

we found you can go as high as 150 ohms, we use 2 watt resistors. in theory your resistor should have worked. p=exe/r. 5vx5v/100 ohms =.25 watt I think you had a smaller than 100 ohm resistor

Just wanted to post I'm a MORON
, I put my resistor in when I had a different programmer. EFI live can turn the DTC wastegate code off so I don't need a resistor or plug. I wasn't thinking and got one anyway
, oh well. Just wanted to let everyone know, if you have EFI you can disable it. If you have something else and get an aftermarket charger you are gonna need one, good news is they are only about $35 from about any good vendor.
