Yeah, i love those Denso alternators, good stuff.

I doubt you cand find a harness at the wreckers' yards. Maybe try Dodge ***********? For the alternator, I don't know where you are in Az, I recently replaced my good stock alt with a Delco 28SI, so it's in Craigslist cheap.

Also you don't have to replace the harness. There is an interconnect about 2 feet from the end. Cut that off and splice a #4 cable to it and an eye terminal for the end to your alternator. Just disable the stock cable at the terminal block.
I will look into splicing in a new cable. I hate to splice if it can be avoided. Don't need any more points of possible failure...
If you're willing to ship your old stock alternator, shoot me a price! Mine charges fine, but I have to replace it due to the power terminal cooking...
THANK YOU for the input! H.

H.
If youd rather not splice, you can use the existing cable, cut it from the terminal block then crimp an eye terminal to it. Then, so that it can reach the bottom of the alternator, unwrap the loom and separate the #6 power cable from the 4 other wires.

I sent you a PM.

Whats the ASD Relay and where?

My truck runs fine but noticed that the battery was on the low side of the gauge. Trouble code is 41 - Field Not Switching which I guess means the alternator isn't alternating? But I can't find much on it except for this old thread.

I'll try the test light method as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Mine's bone stock. Point is these are old trucks and who knows who has done who knows what to them. Grounding the wrong end of the field will smoke something. Which end that is may have changed over time.
