Carnage 2010
Carnage 2010
Here is what let go on the puller this year, in order:
HX52, snapped shaft.

P7100, stuck a plunger.

Warn premium 35 spline lockouts, exploded.

Stock 35 spline inner, twisted off.

With all the binding and hammering, this also messed up the carrier and ring gear. Had to cut the bearings apart to get the carrier out. Welded spiders held up though.

Cold forged Spicer wheel joint, took out both axles.

Somewhere in there we twisted the input on the Getrag too.

And burned a piston.

I think thats it.

It was a lot of fun. When you factor in how many hooks we had on it, it wasn't too bad, really.
Timing was set @ 30*. The #6 piston was the only one melted a little on top. 4 of the holes were scuffing, but none as bad as #6. I am pretty sure it was from getting it too hot for the piston the wall clearance we had. Hard to beleive 300,000 miles wasn't enough to loosen it up.
I have to say that a Southbend Clutch is pretty darn good. It has been in there for 2 years of abuse, and still held just fine. It is only a 3600 too. It has been through a LOT.
