Yea definely let someone whos done 20 or more of them do it. you can watch so you can do it on your next first gen.

When we did ours at archer39's house "Free89W350" (nice guy)was doing our spring for us and the top hot fell out and landed in a 10"x10" oil pan under the truck (that figures) and we had to sort through all the oil with out hands to find it. LOL

kidding about the tool kit thing but really he brings alot of tools so he can do it

Definely bring the spring, I'm sure there will be time to install it at spring fling.
Pump technician my foot! I'm an "unauthorized tamperer".

I'd rather do the 3200 RPM spring where the truck lives. In the unlikely event of a problem, it will not need a tow.

I will have my slide hammer and injector bore brush with me to do the injector swap.

Yeah i made a dumb mistake. When you go to take the top of the pump off, put your finger behind the top hat and disconnect the governor spring so the top hat doesn't shoot off when you disconnect the spring. If you do end up needin a top hat part, I have a spring and backplate sittin in the jockey box, but i don't have the little pin.

What I do is get the pump top loose, then push the throttle shaft down out of the top and set the top aside. Then disconnect the spring while holding onto the top hat spring assembly. Much easier to see what you're doing this way. I then reassemble the same way, but opposite.

Yeah thats a good idea too. I didn't think of that. Well its all back together now and I'm happy. The more you take it apart, and put it back together, the faster and smarter you become. I remember the first time i went to put my 366 spring in a few months ago, it took me a whole day to tear it apart. When I put it all back together the other day after I got the top hat part, it took me less than 2 hours. So i'm gettin better! I don't plan on tearin it apart again for awhile though cuz the last time really made me mad and i missed my truck too much, plus i don't need to tear it down again yet.
