Can't use key to shut off when modded?

Hi all, i've been reading a couple of misc. posts around and they're saying that when you turn up the injection pump you can't use the key to turn the engine off.
Is this true or did i misread something? If it is, then is this only when you turn it up way too much or at all?
Thanks
Brent

The deal is, when you crank on the pump as much as most of us here do, the added internal pressure in the pump can result in the rubber tip of the shutdown solenoid breaking apart. This leads to a crappy seal when it tries to do it's job, so the truck just keeps running. It doesn't happen to every truck. My pump is pretty well maxed and it shuts down just fine.

If you turn your eccentric cone and give your fuel screw about a turn or so, you should not have any problems.
If you get that fuel screw as far as you can go, and grind that foot off under the cover than you will have this problem.

Well mine decided it didn't want to work anymore on Satuday. I've been doing some research, I have found it for +/-$30
When I get it I will be doing the sanding of the foot... trick alla wannadiesel

Michael

PS I will be doing the pull cable anyway, just in case

I have done everything I know to do to my pump. AFC grind, AFC cone ground on a lot, 3200 spring, fuel screw as far in is I can go, and my truck still shuts with the key. I dont know if I am lucky or it is just hanging on by a thread. But for now I have had no problems.

If it has'nt pulled the tip off yet, you dont have it turned up far enough.

When I Maxxed My Fuel Screw, Only A Matter Of Days And It Would't Shut Down With The Key. Pull Cable Installed In A Matter Of Minutes, Prolem Fixed Forever.

I give you two weeks.

My modified plunger is still working after 6 months. You guys who are living on borrowed time might want to pull out your plungers and do a little sanding. Might save you some cash.

So if i turn it only 1 turn in, then i shouldn't have any problems, but if i turn it in any more than that the plunger is living on borrowed time?
Is the sanding trick a for sure fix, or is that still being time tested?
Thanks
Brent
