Can you tell me what is happening here?
Today, for a total of 6 times in a 1 1/2 hour drive, the truck would just have nothing, I mean like a miss that would last up to 4 seconds, and typically on each of these misses I left my foot positioned on the pedal where it was at the speed it was going, in other words, I never let off. It would pause, coast (engine running, just no connection from engine to tranny is what it felt like)like I said for 3-4 seconds, then kick in and drive like normal. What is that all about? What am I to look for? I never did anything different than I normally do, and that is take a freeway drive, hit some water/meth for about 15 seconds up a grade, drive another 20 minutes, stop at Taco bell for a bite while the cool down timer shut the truck off after 6 minutes, and 5 minutes after I got back on the road, that's when it started. Temps where 180 on the trans, boost was 8-10 psi, and pyro at 800. What gives? It's as if something baffled the inlet of the turbo or something. The fuel filter is brand new(3 weeks old) and oil and misc. fluids look good. Advice, please.
Just a stab in the dark, but try getting some pressure readings off the transmission. If I understand you correctly, the engine continues to run but the power isn't getting to the ground. Another possibility might be the overdrive. The next time it happens punch out the overdrive and see what it does. If the OD is kicking in and out it could be electrical. I hope it is something simple.
Really weird, to me anyway, because I had never experienced a miss before, if that is what it is. Imagine yourself just toolin' around and all of a sudden it's like the chain fell off the sprocket. As you slow down due to no chain, it's like the chain magically reappears.
I went through the FSM last night. How often does the automatic shut off relay mounted on the drivers side side wall go out? How about the fuel shut off solenoid? Does this have anything to do w/ the 2 wires attached to it?

You didnt say if the RPM's changed at all during the episodes. If the RPM's raised, I would be inclined to say Tranny, but if no change, ok only dropping with vehicle speed, it isnt your transmission or anything to do with it. I have to say its a fuel delivery problem. What it sounds to me from how u explained it is a loss in power?? But only for a few seconds while cruising.
I have toasted a few auto's and remember when they began to slip while driving the RPM's raised a bit cause of the now free reving motor cuase now your not putting power through the trans. But I could be way off base here, im just going off my experiences.
What happens to the RPM's during this? I get the jist of the feeling like all of a sudden your in neutral.

tranny
mine does that once in a great while (maybe 2 times in 6 months). i have the line pressure and shift pressure up thanks to a transgo shift kit and a friend that builds race trannys. whens the last time u changed the tranny fluid?
tranny flliud was changed out 2 weeks ago, filters and all. I do have the TPS and TV cable tweaked to allow a longer 3-OD shift. it shifts at around 50-55 mph, rather than 40-45 at stock settings. I did this over a month ago, and all has been fine till this missing thing.

If your TPS is going south it could be bouncing you in and out of overdrive. I was playing around with mine not to long ago and I had adjusted it so the shifts would come in real early. I had adjusted it so far that when I let off the throttle it immediately downshifted. I didn't like that at all at seventy MPH. If you are using a volt meter to adjust the tps, slowly open the throttle while watching the meter. There should be a smooth increase in voltage as the throttle is opened. If not the sensor could be dirty or worn.
I'm with Cowboy, did the RPM's spike or did the engine actually cut out? If it cut out I suspect the fuel shut off solenoid and I'd swap the fuel solenoid ASAP while it's less then convenient as usual, instead of really, really inconvenient on the side of the road somewheres.
update on the miss fire
It hasn't done it since, from cruise to WOT, up hills, down hills, from a full stop to slow acceleration or stop to WOT. The only thing I can think off is the day before it started miss firing, I was trying to unscrew the full power screw so I dropped about 5 drops of brake free and I believe some of the oil dripped into the connections of the 2 wires on the fuel solenoid, causing a film on the prongs. I sprayed electrical cleaner on them and squeezed the electrical spade so it would fit back on tighter, and no more problems.
