1st vs. 2nd gen rant

First off, let me say Ive probably got one of the nicest condition 1st gen dodges Ive ever seen, VERY near showroom cond, with just over 100,000 club cab, LE, polished 17" rims, linexed bed, coupla dings, NO rust, not even surface, not even under it!! Anyways, saw my dream truck on Ebay (98 quad cab 4wd, with 12valve), and from even him got the typical crap about how my truck is worth only 3500 (same jerk who would try to get 10k for it right after I traded it to him), same guy who wants 15k for the 98. Im done. Sorry. I just dont know why with 1st gens, there is NO trade in, but killer retail.............its like its got both sides of the coin (and I will not be caught without a truck becasue Im picky, and it will take a while to find!!)

The first gens are hard to get a trade in value because they are so old they dont have a good book value anymore .I am in same boat have a first gen forsale but its harder to sell then a second cause of age . Don't sweat the small stuff sell yer's to a private party and then pay cash for a different truck .?

Put yours on ebay. I have seen a few go for over 11K recently.

P.S. I'd give you 3700.00

After owning a 1st gen, and now a 2nd gen...I think I like the 1st gen as much as the 2nd, except the injection pump and transmission. I'd love to own a clean 1st gen with a P-Pumped 12-valve and NV trans but I can't even find a stock 92/93 intercooled truck for under $5k.

Hang in there on selling the truck, you'll find a buyer, and you'll find the 2nd gen you want...it'll all work out if you have a little patience.

IF I had the crewcab conversion, Id NEVER sell it. I only want it because of the crappy jump seat situation, with 2 kids. It would be awful nice to open a door, and lift them in, to a forward facing situation, rather than side to side. The bonus to the early 98 is keeping the 12 valve, with the killer pump, and upgraded, locking torque converter. I will not sell mine without finding my truck, and its kind of a needle in a haystack situation, so I cant really sell mine first without the possibility of a significant gap, so Ill stick with mine. I am ALWAYs on the lookout for a cab from a crewcab. Investing 5k into a crewcab conversion (with the possiblity of shortening my longbed to a shortbed) would end up being a solid investmemnt for me!!

Is it even possible to get a '97 - '98 12v Club / quad Cab without a 53 block? Sounds like 8 out of 10 have the 53 block. so... maybe possible, but probably not

NICE looking ride! As far as the trade/sell ratio, nobody (that i know of anyhoo) wants to give any significant$$$ for trade. They all go by "The Book" and if your ride is "worth" 3500 they will offer 2500, just the way it is.
