Cable ties Strength testing
Cable ties Strength testing
This guy has a YouTube channel called Project Farm and he does testing of all sorts of things. Today I just watched his tests of several brands of cable ties or Ty-Wraps. I use Ty-Wraps a lot to fix stuff even more than Duct Tape. I never thought of getting steel ties but now that I know their available I'll get some to have in stock.
My speedometer cable, the twisty kind and not that fancy electronic stuff most of you guys have, had the plastic snap that holds it onto the speedometer broken off. So I used 3 Ty-Wraps to hold it together. One around the speedometer, one around the cable housing and one going between the other two to hold them all together. Been that way for years. So that's one use other than bundling wires together.
I broke the case off my intermittent wiper module so I had to glue it back together and then Ty-Wrap it to the original bracket since the part that slit onto the metal bracket was broken beyond repair.
That plastic sheath that came on the wiring harness under the hood was such a PITA to work with I pulled it off and used Ty-Wraps for the whole thing. I'm much happier with it now.
Beats the heck out of using Duct Tape and string.
And yeah, I DO have too much time on my hands.
