89' With 727 Kickdown Cable shot?

Just this past week I have experienced a problem with the truck shifting awkwardly and only being able to go 55 mph max. I peeked around under the hood and noticed that when the linkage travels for the throttle, the kickdown cable bows up instead of moving fluently. Is this a common problem or is the cable just worn out?

Sounds like the cable is binding up. I'd stop driving it before you fry the clutches.....That cable directly controls Pressure inside the trans.

The cable is still available from the dealer last i heard, and somewhere on the internet is a company that makes the Cables, they are pretty universal.

It's actually called a TV Cable (Throttle Valve cable) for the transmission, that's what you're gonna want to call it when you talk to the Parts guy at the Dealer.

You could also get the Part # from the dealer, then punch it in on www.chryslerpartsdirect.com and buy it from them and get it shipped to your house.

Unhook the cable where it attaches to the lever down on the transmission, and work the transmission lever back and forth and make sure that's not binding.....It should rotate pretty easily.
