cab swap?

My truck is in pretty good shape mechnically, but it's got quite a bit of rust on the cab, that's why they call this the rust belt!
It's got me thinking: a friend of mine used to have a 70's Powerwagon plow truck with an early fifties original Powerwagon cab and bed mounted on it, and man, it was sweet
What other cabs do you think could be mounted on our frames to replace a rusted out body? I'm thinking maybe a Mack B or a Cornbinder K, or maybe even a Studabaker would be v. cool, what do you think?

I was just thinking of doing the same thing to another truck I have. I was considering an old Dodge (30's) or Dimond Reo. Some thing from that era.

I like the idea of the Mack B or Turdwhirler K cab. That would be a sweet project! I am also fond of the older Power Wagons. Got any pics of your buddys plow truck?

At a junkyard in Morrisville, PA they've got 4 Macks from the 40s and 50s. I'm not an expert on them, but they were pretty solid. The chassis's were all in the 1.5 to 2.5 ton range.

Wish I did, but it's long gone. He didn't build it, but bought it that way. Whoever did the work did a fine job though, except for the wheels it looked like the real thing, but unlike the flathead, it would go more than 45 mph
Those old P-wagen cabs are small, no more room inside than a modern mini truck. Probably not much smaller than the old Mack or IHC cabs though when you get right down to it.

I always wanted to put a cabover cab on my truck. I think they are much more useful in terms of space. And I like how they look. I think it would be hard to figure out the manual shifter though.

I think old cabs are really small and crude. But they look real nice and can be made nicer inside. I have seen a couple large pickups with Mack cabs on. They look nice and unique.

I'd like to swap a 79 front end on to my 91(fenders, hood, grille, etc). Don't know if it's possible or not. Might have to swap the cowl, doors and also the radiator support (with mods)

To swap to pre 81 you would need; Doors, core support, fenders, hood, cowl, grill, lower filler panel (under grill).
Should bolt up pretty easy. If you cut the spot welds out of the innercooler brackets you shoiuld be able to mount them to the earlier core supt.

As it is i'm goin for a fender, door and hood to get very straight sheetmetal. I'm looking to make a lil red look alike except with a custom aluminum bed. I'll do the fab/welding myself. I'd like to replace the clip but would want to find a sweet looking 78 single hl or 79 double hl grill. Have to look around.

The outside shape of the doors the same as the 91?

Back in the early 80s there was a kit to put a KW cab with a 2/3? scale hood on any full size truck. Only ever saw it in Kit Car and mags like that. I always thought it was cool. It is NOT the Mini 18. Think I remember seeing one for sale in Nova Scotia about 10 years ago. If anyone has seen this or has found a link please please post it.

Also about 3 years ago I saw a very nicely done Dodge C700 cab on an early 80's 1 ton Power Wagon chassis. In a Mopar Action mag. Thats the one with the very square front fenders that swing out to work on the engine. I thought that was really cool too. The cab part came from the late 50 dodge p/u with the Big Truck fenders grafted on. The same cab was used on Big Horns, but with a f/glass tilt front end.

Doors are the same from 81-93. Although there have been some engineering changes over the years
