Question >>> cab mount "bolt-pattern" <<<

I need to know the "bolt-pattern" for the cab mounting points of a standard-cab 1st Gen.

If anyone has the cab off of the frame, these measurements would be easy to record.

I need to know the distance side-to-side of front, center, and rear.

Plus, the distance from front to center to rear.

Many thanks.

These on center measurements are what I got from the bare frame:
The cab itself:

Front to rear 43-3/16" as measured from point to point and not in a level plane.

Rear across both frame rails 41-13/16"

Front across both frame rails 43-3/8" to 43-7/16" which is difficult to sight in and measure due to the depth from the frame rail to the top of the mounting bracket.

Front cab mount to radiator support bracket mounting hole 54-3/16" measured point to point and not in a horizontal plane.

Radiator support center to center measured across the frame rails 34-1/8"

Allow +/- at least 1/8" in accuracy for the tape measure & measurer methods.

Thank you, Mr Trebor !!!!

That is exactly what I needed and I can work with those figures.

Each measurement IS from bolt-center to bolt-center, correct ??

Thanks so much for taking the time to get these measurements.

Many thanks again.

That is the way I have always taken such measurements.

No problem Bearkiller. Glad as always to provide a bit of information that only a few of us may have on hand.

And a FWIW on future references the front to rear CREW cab mounts center to center is 77" I remember it by the old TV show "77 Sunset Strip" or "77 WABC" which likely both predate about 90% of the readers on here!

I see this thread is 6 years old but I'm in the process of putting a crew cab on an extended cab Cummings frame....I don't have the crew frame to take measurements on so I dropped a plumb bob down the center of each front and rear cab hole to find the c/line to c/line and I came up with 76.5".

I see this gentleman posted 77" front to back...id hate to drill the frame and install the new cab mount bracket and bee 1/2" off.

Can anyone measure first hand and confirm?

Why not toss the crewcab onto the extcab frame, and bolt it to the front mounts. Then bolt on the rear mounts with the brackets removed from the frame, and mark where they will sit. Then your sure to get them exactly where they need to be.

Crew cabs on Ex- cab frames will need a body lift or the rear floor pans cut out and notched for the hump in the frame where it comes up behind the Ex cab.

I'm going to try a small body lift with a small floor pan notch and at this point I haven't cut the floor so the cab sits *** high.....being its an extended cab frame and all...

It doesn't really matter now because I dropped the plum bob again with the addition of some centering inserts I built quickly so the string stays perfectly on the center of the holes.....76.5". .....so I laid them out and drilled the frame.

Do Holes have wiggle room?

Got a 'New' 93 W240 ext cab, where the cab looks odd when viewing the gap between the front bumper from side-to-side, as well as the gap between the cab and the bed (@1/2 inch difference when comparing driver and passenger sides).

I can't tell the cab has ever been removed (all cab bolts still have under coating on them), but it sure does sit a little sideways. Is there enough room in the mounting holes (cab and / or frame) allow for this. Or do I have something else going on here?

Also from what I can tell there are only 4 cab mounts, and the 2 radiator support mounts that I would need to loosen in order to move the cab. So is this correct or are there others I'm not seeing?

Any info you may have would be helpful...

The frame side mounts could be rusted out real bad. That could cause the problem. Here is a pic of a couple of bad mounts I had on my cab replacement project.

The other side mounts were good. If all your mounts are like these mounts the cab could shift.

Could also be collapsed cab mounts.

Thanks for the Pics

Thanks for the pictures and possible causes.

When I look under the truck, I'm not going to say its rust free, but you have to search to find it. So the mounts and their bushings look to be in exceptional shape for a 23 yr old truck, and again everything is pretty well undercoated.

But I'll have to loosen these anyway, so will be the 1st thing I look for.

I have seen rust free cab mounts crack and hog out as well.
It would be worth checking.

My white crew which is originally from Oregon before spending a few years out in AZ then getting driven to VT still has the factory paint on the frame.
The rear cab mounts had cracked from the the rough roads it saw before I got.
