Broken Mystery Bellhousing

Broken Mystery Bellhousing
I've got a 92 1ton 4x4 CTD and its had an NV4500 swapped in it. The problem is they just welded a piece of 4"x4" square tubing on the crossmember and did not attach it to the tranny so the tranny could move side to side. So the bell housing now has a crack from 12 to 6 going clockwise around it. Some one tried to TIG it before but it cracked right along the weld seam again. i'm not sure if the bellhousing is a first gen or a 2nd or some thing some one cobbled together. i'd like to just put a new bellhousing on but then again i'm not sure what i'm starting with. i have heard the starters bolt up differently and that the slave cylinder and its position in the bellhousing are diff between 1st and 2nd gens but i'm not sure. any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Was the bell housing Removed and welded or did they weld it on the truck. I would think if you removed it and had it welded on both sides that it would be good as new. Did you fix the mounting problem at the cross member?

Chances are it is an Advanced Adapters bell, a re-worked stock one, or a 2nd gen setup.
If they used a 2nd gen set up the block adapter is thicker(roughly 2" vs. 1" for a 1st G) and the slave is on the back of the bell right next to the tranny. You can't see the clutch fork on a 2nd gen. Also it should have a 2nd gen starter, which is smaller than a 1st gen.
The AA bell basically is just like a 1st gen except it fits the NV4500.
It is possibly to add a spacer between the getrag bell and put the NV 4500 on there. It requires drilling out some of the holes and should be noticeable.
This is a stock getrag setup:
The slave is not installed.

ya i made one that uses a 2nd gen tranny mount so i could bolt it up to the holes that were in the bottom of the tranny. i have not had the tranny out to look at the bell housing but some one before has. the welds have been ground down. CaptainChrysler mine looks like the one in your picts but has no other holes drilled in it that i can see. i cant find a manufacture stamp on it any where to even verify what the part number is or who made it. it is bolted right up to the spacer plate and right up to the NV4500. i'll take some picts tomorrow and try and post them to show ya what i'm dealing with
