I had bad luck with the Sylvania Silverstar series of light bulbs in my 1995 CTD. They are expensive and I never had one last more than a year. Usually 6-9 months for a $25 light bulb. Not acceptable. I never used the Silverstar sealed beams but I would expect the same thing from them.

When I contacted Sylvania I was told that they were a high performance light bulb and short service life was to be expected. I haven't bought one since.

That's a marketing " LIE " to be able to sell more bulbs and make a higher profit at year end. These companies have the ability to make light bulbs that last forever, and they purposely build the limit into the product so that they can sell more product. They're also manufactured offshore and they cannot hold these offshore companies to any real standard for product quality.

This bulb was designed and has been on for 114 years. You mean to tell me that with how science has progressed that they can't to this anymore ??

Bull-ogna......

When I buy a replacement bulb for my Hella's, I'm buying a Hella insert. Hopefully, I get a German or other european made bulb
