brake upgrade

I'm looking at upgrading my rear brakes to the 1 ton version. A couple questions:
1. same cylinder and shoe part numbers for a D250 as for the W250?
2. Do you leave the ABS valving alone? Is it still functional?

I thought about it. The 3" shoes and larger cylinders just looks so much easier for a shadetree mechanic like me.

way cheaper and easier, 3". auto parts store will have parts by application, new cylinders are probably 30. each, abs will be fine.

the P.O. of my truck apparently did the conversion, and when I did the brakes a couple weeks ago, I took the old shoes in to match them up and we had to look everything up under a 93 w350. The wheel cylinders are a little bigger than the 3/4 ton ones too. If I hadn't run my receipt through the wash I could help you more. I think when it was all said and done, I had a new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, shoes, and all hardware including adjusters for right around 80 bucks (the fronts had recently been gone thru by the P.O.).

That said, the next time I need rear brakes, I am doing the disc conversion. Yea, it's a little pricey initially, but it beats the out of tearing the whole rear end apart just to get at the brakes, not to mention it should give you more stopping power.
