brake controller install

already knowing ill probably be told to go get something different, how long would it take to install a jordan brake controller? half hour....three hours....roughly?

agreed. any eletronic controler is pretty simple. 4 wires, some screws, and you're done.

how many wires & what colors , most have the same color code, i"ll be glad to go look on my truck an hollar back if i can help ya out. Myunit came off a used trk., wrote on ea. wire w/ maskin tape what went where, made it easyer for me.

sorry, blue wire goes to the trailer plug pin number 2. red wire goes to vehicle brake switch. (on mine its the white wire with no tracer coming out of the brake pedal switch.) white wire goes to ground. black wire goes to 12v positive.

Most electric brake controllers will only be 4 wires as you described and you're correct with which wire goes where. It's highly recommended to place a 30-40amp circuit breaker between the battery and the controller in line with the 12v constant hot wire (black).

Good point. I've seen the damage that can happen when a penny gets stuck in the cig lighter which is wired with no fuse. dont ask how.

Jimbo--fuse a must, to many times the wires on our trailers go bad, bare, broken( rats chew).Good advise.
