brake booster
Is it common on the 1`st gen to replace the brake booster on high mileage diesels? Not braking like before, changed the master cylinder and peddle has longer travel than before, system was bled properly

Air in the system usually is the culprit for a longer peddle travel. Did you bleed the RWAL valve first before moving to the rear wheel cylinders?
The Vacuum brake system is adequate on the 1st Gen's, but do require frequent changes of the MC and the booster. Converting to Hydroboost will change your truck from night to day. I had read people reviews about the hydro boost being one of the best upgrades done to their truck, but once I did my own conversion I understand the praise of the braking system now!

It is not uncommon, but it is common that the rear drums get out of adjustment and act like a bad booster. Make sure that the rear drums are correctly adjusted and that the automatic adjusters are working before you buy a booster...Mark
