Not sure on the shuddering, it's doubtful that the two are related since the engine is all mechanical controlled.

Check the codes on the ABS and let us know what you find.

To check the codes: There's a little black plug by the parking brake release. Hook one end of a wire to a good ground, turn the key on, and momentarily touch the ground wire to the terminal in the black plug. The ABS light will start flashing. The pattern will be a long flash followed by a bunch of short flashes. Each long flash is the beginiing of a code. The number of flashes (including the long one) is the code number. Codes are numbered 2 through 15.

Rich, yours sounds like low vacuum or a bad vacuum sensor.

my brake and abs light stay on all the time. ill check those codes and then post up. seems like only a few days after i bought the truck the lights would come on momentarily just in normal driving. now they stay on all the time.

my black wire was behind the glove box on my '92 (open the glove box all the way out). that's also where my abs computer is.

I got my lights to go off accidently. It happened after the entire brake system was replaced, though, so I can't be too helpful.

I know that on mine the lights always come on when they need to be bled.

The wires from the frame rail to the speed sensor(on top of the rear alxle)are a common probem due to these wire constently flexing!

I had a similar problem and tried changing the abs sensor on the differential and that didn't fix it, mine was a bad wiring connector on the frame behind the gas tank. The dealer wouldn't take back the $87 dollar sensor because it had been installed. If anyone needs the sensor I'll sell it for half price or best offer, its still in the box, the only way you can tell its been installed is the orange coating on the o-ring is rubbed off in places.
