Borgeson steering shaft question
I am considering installing a borgeson steering shaft. I was wondering if they work as well as everyone says. Also I noticed there is an extreme duty one that replaces the rag joint with a u joint as well. However I have not found any information from anyone who used one of these. The extreme duty shaft is only about ten bucks more at summit racing so the price is about the same as if you bought a new rag joint. I am wondering what is best and any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Man, I like mine. I got the heavy duty shaft. I would like to find a steering gear box stablizer. I had my front end rebuilt and all the brakes, and related parts replaced after 200,000 miles. The ole gril keeps going streight now. She stops real good too. I had the ABS removed, just have to be careful when I don't have the trailer on. If you get one go with the heavy duty. You can't go wrong with it.
Check your steering shaft at the rag joint before you order. The HD unit is splined, and not all trucks have the splined shaft coming through the firewall...some have the bracket for the rag joint welded to the steering wheel side of the shaft.
isn't there a way to just order the u-joints? make the shaft yourself? seems like i remember somebody doing the research on that. can't seem to find the thread though. i've been wanting to do that for a while.
