Best way I know of to get this sort of information is an online parts source. Do a parts search by model and see if the part number match. Considering the number of changed between the 1st and 2nd gens, my off the cuff guess is no. Personally, I'd do the hydro boost conversion instead of replacing the vacuum booster. But if I could get one for free? Different story.

I think those are all hydroboosters so the short answer is no, the long answer is yes it can work........with a lot of work.

96 would still be vac unless it is a 1 ton then it would be hydra boost.

I doubt it would fit the gen 1 truck since the body's are different and i would expect the mounting to different be as well.

Just buy a loaded booster for $100.

4 nuts
1 brake pedal clip
2 brake lines
2 vacuum lines

I did mine last week, took me 45 minutes and I was back on the road.

Hey Timm, & gang,,i'v read about the problems some have had w/their brakes, mine have always been nice & lite to the foot. Think i'll do the stock boost too, Timm, but we ( first geners) are always for alter/better ways ( and especially FREE ) sourses. But i'm still goin to ck it out when i get over to my friends place, thanks gang.
