Blue Smoke and other newbie questions

Hi Ya'll,

I recently purchased a '92 and after driving it now for a month I've been keeping a list of all the things I feel need to be fixed. After searching on this forum (which is excellent btw) I've learned alot but need advice.

Couple of weeks ago I picked up a fuel, oil and BHAF filters, as the wife wanted to haul the travel trailer down to the coast I only had time to install the BHAF before we left. The truck smoked a little bluish/grey at idle before when it was cold but since I've added the BHAF it's smoking really bad when cold or after it's been idling for a while. Previous owner had installed POD injectors and adjusted the smoke wheel but I noted the timing marks on the pump are still sitting at the factory specs. Should I adjust the pump the 1/8" and to make sure I understand this right I move the pump towards the engine block/pass side and will this help the blue smoke? I also noted a very small amount of bubbling around two injectors and plan on trying to tighten them up a bit but if that doesn't correct it does anyone have the cummins part # for the copper washers? Plan on fixing this and several other items next week just want to get all the parts/facts together before I dig into it.

Thanks in advance!

Advancing the timing will help with the blue smoke, although you will still get it some when the truck is cold. You are correct on which direction to move the pump.

The tiedown strap is an excellent idea. Do ya all know what the torque is suppose to be on the injectors? They seemed snug but am hesitant to crank them....guess I need to buy a repair manual

I suggest when you tighten the injector lines, you loosen them first, then retorque them....
