A big thanks to ouchman !

For his post on the tightwad fix for tps. Mine went out and I went to radioshack and got a 5k linear pot for $2.80, cut my tps wires 2 inchs from tps, put female spades on them and hooked em to pot in same order they were on tps. With key on I hooked a mulimeter to center(orange wire) and grounded to to batt. then I set voltage on the pot to 1.6 volts. Test drive went great, shifted into OD at 38 mph. Came home and found a vitamin bottle and drilled a hole in to lid to run tsp wires through, plugged pot back in and dropped it into bottle, ran silicone around hole in lid and zip tied it to the intake. now i have a waterproof potientometer that makes OD upshift and downshift like new for $2.80, not the $286.00 parts house wanted for tps. thanks to all on the board for the info to keeps our ole gals goin, Terry.

Wow. Now I feel like a star!

Thanks for the kind words. I am glad it worked for you and even more glad that you fixed your truck for UNDER $3.00! I hope others benefit from this fix too.

Just curious... does the 'Overdrive Off' button/switch still work after doing this mod?

Yes, and the way Terry set his up is ideal. Set it up to shift early, and then you can just use the button to lock it out if the situation requires. Much better than running along at 45 in direct wishing it would upshift.
