Best place for a CB antenna on a 1st gen?
Greg! That is exactly what I want to do with my antenna. Thanks for the pic! I have a very similiar CB antenna to what you have (a bit shorter). Did you buy that antenna bracket or make it yourself? I have some sheetmetal and thought maybe I can fab my own. How do you have the radio placed inside the cab?

For real good selection and good prices, the best place to shop for C.B. stuff is at any of the bigger/better truck-stops.
They will really gouge prices on all that touristy stuff in the gift section; but, the C.B. stuff will be the best (COBRA), and the prices will be right, due to the word-of-mouth advertising on the trucker grapevine (the C.B.).
Other truck necessities are also usually a lot cheaper than elsewhere: such as, oil, anti-freeze, fuel-treatment, etc., due mostly to the sheer volume of that sort of stuff that they will sell.

I will have the check out my local truck stop for the CB asessories. I specifically was curious if anyone on the 1st gen forum knows much about CB brands, installation, and specifications? I want to mount the antenna on one of those "fender-style" brackets. Anyone have some close up pics?
My antenna is mounted like the OE radio on the driver side. as for brands on the radios I am partial to Uniden; Midland, and Cobras are alright as well, never had much other experience. make sure it has 40 channels, weather bands are good as well. The more bell and whistles the better I always say. squelch adjustments are important, and I always wanted one with a PA speaker. As for antennas, get a good one, whatever a good one is, I have been thinking about a tied back whip like on Mil. Hummer's. Most antennas I have used have good range, from little window units on auto units, to large whips on base stations in RV"S.
