Kick down cable adjustment questions

So on the kick down cable how exactly to adjust it, or i should say what tools would i need to adjust it, is there something special to measure how its adjusted or what? is there supposed to be a spring attached to it? cause mine has a spring hooked to it? the reason im asking is cause i posted a post yesterday or the day before asking about a problem with my TQ converter. It was doing fine until it hit 18 lbs of boost then something started slipping, now when i hit near 15 lbs under load its slipping like crazy, someone said it wasn't the tq converter and i should try to adjust the cable first, well i don't wanna screw up so im asking people on here.

there's no tools required to adjust it, just a little clip you can undo with your finger and slide the cable to adjust it...

From the FSM:

A 4.57MM(0.180in) diameter gauge is needed to check and adjust the throttle valve cable on diesel models. Use a micrometer adn inside calipers, a drill of the correct diameter, or fabricate a gauge from metal or aluminum stock.

well here is what it was, i was getting mad, so i crawled under the truck and my kickdown cable was off, tried putting it back on and it kept falling off, so i put a few zip ties on it for right now to make it stay on there till i get a new one, no slipping and the power is back to the wheels

is it hard to find a new one? if it is im gonna just figure out a way to get it to stay on there, it just keeps falling off on the transmission side, it seems as if the plastic clip is worn out
