I run 75-110 amsoil in mine. Any gear oil is fine though, adjust the viscosity for the temps you run in

80-90 gear oil in mine.

i wouldn't run synthetic it'll probably start leaking out of all the seals.

The manual calls for 10w30 motor oil but, being gear to gear, I run 75-140 Severe Gear Amsoil.

No leaks yet! 9000 miles later

I thought it should have the same fluid as the transmission I put ATF+4 on the 92 w250 auto.

It depends what manual you look in and what temperature range. Below zero is 10w30 and anything above gear oil is best. There was a few years they recommended atf for the np205 but they went back to gear oil, especially for towing, etc.

The way is see it is, would you run atf in your rear diff? I wouldnt, the 205 tcase gears are very similar to a diff.

I put some valvoline 75-90 (cant remember if its synthetic or not) in mine right after I rebuilt it and the new gaskets started leaking right away and have been since. It doesn't leak a ton but it leaves a few drips everywhere I park and i have to top it off every month or so. I was a little disgusted, not sure if it was the oil or the gasket quality that caused the leaks, the output seals seem fine but not the gaskets.
