best intercooler upgrade options
When I put my S300 on, I'm worried my 2.5" inlet/outlet on my factory intercooler will be a restriction. I know folks use Powerstroke I/C's, what's the benifet of those price? Who else has performance/ 3" I/C's? I think banks has one.
Thanks

Well in my opinion you sure can't beat the price of the powerstroke intercooler. I found one for 150 and paid 15 dollars for silicone boots, other than that a couple hours of messing around and modifying it to fit there is basically no other cost. I'm sure you could find something roughly the same size as our stock intercoolers with a 3 inch id, but you wont get the same cooling as a larger intercooler. A second or third gen intercooler takes a little bit more fabrication to put in from my understanding as well.
I paid $125 for nice PS intercooler with no leaks or bends from a salvage yard and got the boots and clamps with it. I just had to clean it up good. Yes it is 3" and it think they have a better "necks" to them than the 2nd gen intercooler it looks like to me, the 2nd gen ones would be a little more restrictive.

Great thanks. Should I try to re-use the stock PS boots? If they come with the IC. I got a buddy building up his F-350 and he's got his stock IC laying around in the garage.

This is great thanks eberybody. Where should I look for good reducer boots that can handle lots of boost.
Also are the PS I/C's any better at cooling or do they just flow better. Should I expect a 100 deg drop in egt?

I've been buying my stuff at www.siliconeintakes.com. They have good prices and, in my opinion, the quality of their product is very good!!
3" silicone will fit over the 3.25" Powerstroker intercooler ends, it worked for me, a little tighter but in my mind i'd rather have them tight cuz they won't want to blow off as easy. I just ordered 2' of 3" silicone straight tubing and then cut 6" to 8" pieces out and used them with my 3" piping and still had some left in case i ever blow a boot in the future, I'll have an extra or two. I ordered mine from www.frozenboost.com, but it looks like they have about the same stuff and same prices.
