Just went through this debate.

Ended up going with PDR's 12v plate/bar intercooler.

Yes, I have a 24v truck but the 12v intercooler bolts right in perfectly. The only difference between it and my stock unit is that the new PDR one is about an inch and a half shorter in height. Makes no difference because it's more efficient than the stock one anyways.

the above is the best : bar and plate style. turbonetics makes em but they dont sell to the public, not sure where to get the spearco intercooler for the best price tho. the turbonetics site has all the info in the torque master section

I run the Spearco Unit and couldn't be happier with the results!
Its flat out awesome! Turbo spool is much improved and EGTs are kept at bay a lot longer (from pegging the gauge)

Well + or -1000$is too much for me to swing right now.

I have never done it but assumed that you can have an intercooler recored like a radiator. wonderin if that might be an afordable alternative.

Or if I should just let it go for now and save up for a good one.

I paid a lot less than $1000 from Haisley.... with a core exchange. Had unfixable large leak.
Don't know what they go for now but nice unit... tested/guarranteed to 100 psi.... and black, like an intercooler should be.
