BC's Transmission Overhaul (updated as it occurs)
I got the torque converter and a few upgrade parts from SunCoast ~ http://www.suncoastconverters.com/. The balance of the parts (the majority), from PATC ~ http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm
Having built my mess now and learned a little, having to do it again, I'd get the converter from Suncoast and everything else from PATC.

You wouldn't happen to have a list of the parts that you bought from both Suncoast and PATC to do this rebuild would you? After rebuilding it and driving it would you do anything different as far as the parts you put into it?
Excellent job btw, I really like your attention to detail.

I had not come across this thread in the Sticky before, since I have a NV4500. But I am finally tackling an auto rebuild myself and rebuilding my old 727 in my 68 Chrysler wagon, and this has helped me quite a bit.
Thank you BC for all the pics and info!

Kinda jumped to the end and I apologize if it was covered but your overheated direct clutch steel was most likely caused by a clogged or sticky check valve in the drum. It's the little rattly check ball in the front face of the drum. This prevents centrifugal forces from pushing fluid against the piston and dragging the clutch plates.
There is a LOT of great information in this topic.
My 46RH transmission failed and I rebuilt it myself, as-shown in this topic.
There is NO advertising in this link, just my personal images and documentation of the disassembly, analysis, repair and reassembly of my personal 46RH transmission.
Wingless, you did not add the links, but the Jeep forums do automatically. Can you post the whole thread here, not just the link? Looks like a really good thread that would be useful to our members, but the automatic viglink stuff kills it for us, thanks, Pat
The topic is posted in the Technical Articles & Write-Ups section of the JeepForum web site.
Their instructions for that forum section state that I agree to not post it elsewhere. (But I am permitted to link it)
Thanks for the explanation. It was never my intent to violate forum rules, hence all the unanswered PM messages to moderators to understand the issue.

I will not link it again to your forum, even though I expect this to contain information that would be helpful to your members.
Thank you!
