Which banjo for fuel press tap?

Can somebody point me in the right direction for a good place to install the tapped banjo bolt for a fuel pressure gauge? I used the one on the IP right below the AFC connection, but it doesn't seem right. It reads about 5lbs at idle and builds with throttle, up to about 15 which was all the higher my test gauge went, so I let off there. But the truck's not running right. Feels like it's defueling early, almost as if my 366 spring suddenly disappeared.

Tks...

That's the overflow valve for the pump. Put it back and the truck will run better. Without that restriction the pump does not build case pressure, so you get no timing advance - which is why the truck is doggy.

You want the banjo on the filter mount, the one towards the front that has the bleed screw.

Thanks Wanna! I looked at that bolt when I took it out and thought "this can't be right, there's only a tiny little hole in this thing?" But I put the new one in there anyway. I can be such a butthead sometimes.

Next time when it don't look right, I'll ask here 1st and save myself some time, maybe even avoid really messing something up.

While you have it out, give it a good cleaning. When the shut down solenoid plunger sheds it can clog it up.

OK, so the 1st line off the fuel system is now connected in the correct location - Yaaay! I have it going to a junction bolted to the inner fender where I have installed a needle valve, which will feed the gauge. OBTW, I had to order another gauge, because I got the wrong one - too much range. I bought the gauges over three months ago when I knew even less than I do now If that is possible, so gimme a break! Anyone need a 100psi Autometer Carbon Fiber 2 1/16"? Cheap!!

Now I noticed the Banjo I removed and replaced has the air bleed screw in it. Can I get away with putting that back in my junction over on the fender, or does it need to sit up at the filter where it came from in order to work properly?

Here's how I dealt with the bleed screw issue.

That's a shut-off valve (in case of a leak), a petcock (for bleeding the system), and a snubber (for damping the pressure pulses).

If you don't mind a mess, just leave the filter loose while you pump the priming lever.
