Thanks all for the input!
DBF, The trans-air-oil cooler (as referred to in my 93 FSM) is located in front of the inter-cooler. I was asking if people plumbed the trans filter assembly (filter mount, and screw on filter) next to the batt on the drivers side, before the trans-air-oil cooler.
--Maybe the trans-air-oil cooler I was referring to is actually called the fluid-to-air cooler on top of the radiator, as DBF mentioned? I will have to go back to the garage and look at the FSM again.

Bronco, if you haven't installed your filter housing yet, I just finished mine, and I'd like to offer a suggestion on mounting location. This went on my 1st gen #2, and 1st gen #1 has this same set up, and ran it for 12,000 miles this way. I tapped ito the lines coming from the oil to air cooler at the front of the truck, as the fluid heads back to the tranny. If you look under your truck by the front bumper, it will be the line mounted closest to your oil pan. This is right where I cut into the line, as it heads back to the tranny after getting cooled. I used 2 90 degree compressions to hose barbs in 1/2" size. I used a 2 1/2" muffler hanger and mounted my housing onto that muffler hanger ( you may need to fab a bracket in between filter housing and muff bracket) and the muffler hanger is clammped onto my intercooler pipe, right under the 90 degree turn into the intake manifold. Easy to change filters from this point, and if I were you, I would tee in a by-pass valve and hook a pressure guage to the housing so if your filter is getting plugged up, you can switch to bypass the filter.

Bigragu,
Thanks for the oil filter mounting tips! I am going to look at the underside of the rig tomorrow 11/8, so I will figure out what type of mounting fixture I need to fab up, to mount the filter assembly to.
