I don't know if the stock ECM uses the factory gauge sender for reference so to be safe I would use a extended nipple to a T-fitting and install both the Auto meter and the factory senders back on the engine.

Factory sender should be at the front of the engine near the thermostat housing, I believe you could also use one of the plugged holes in the head near the front rocker cover.

The factory sender is tucked up under the head all the way in the back on the driver's side.

The PCM looks for a minimum temp to allow OD so if you have an automatic you need to leave the stock sender.

X2. Thats what I did. I would not T the stock location due to the senders not getting an acurate reading. In a T set up there would be no "flow" and I would suspect it would read cooler then actual temp.

Look on top of the T-stat housing near the lifting hook and you will see a 3/4" pipe plug. It's used for burping the coolant system after a T-shat swap or what ever. I put in a reducer and the sender right there.
