I've got 16/38.5x16.5 tsls on 12" wheels on one truck. With your 7"s you should clear them. They might hit the rear outer portion of the inner fender a little.

I used to run 15" wide Mickey Thompsons and 16" wide Dick Cepeck kevlars on my old Super Duty.Never had any probs other than wheel bearings wearing faster.I also had a set of 35x14.50 thornbirds on one of my bronco's,I liked the tires, however you really need to stay on top of rotations with them.I had over 20,000 miles on em when I sold em,but I rotated about every 3,000 mi. And the Bronco didnt weigh near what our diesels weigh.

Depending on your wheel width around 4" should keep you off the fenders and off the leaf springs.

Thornbirds are terrible. Some came on my truck when I bought it. They had about half tread left and I could not keep the truck in the road. If you keep it off road all the time then they would be fine. They will either get you out of a mud hole or stuck even worse from the side wall lugs.

Here's something to concider, I had a set of 14" wide rims with 35's on a 80 blazer. My problem was a HAD to carry a jack, tools and spare wheel lugs and studs at ALL times, cuz I never knew when I'd brake a stud. It wasn't a matter of if, but when!! Side benefit was I could slide the jack under, lift, change and drop in under 30 min. LOL (true though)

I was reffering to backspacing. As far as my personal opinion on thornbirds....show truck or sand. They wander all over the road, don't clean in the mud, are too hard for the rocks and wear out too quick. I preffer any other tire in the tsl line-up.

Ryan has it right, thornbirds have a repuation in the off-road world as one of the worst tires ever made, avoid them at all costs.
