Looking for advice. I am trying to change out my flexplate cheap, and thought I should change out the seal while I am there. Maybe I shouldn't remove it...it isn't leaking. What are your thoughts on R&R of the seal?

I pulled mine by running a few sheet metal screws into it and using a pry bar to walk it out.

I'd definitely change it while I was in there. I'd hate to do the labor all over again if it started leaking in a few weeks.

Ditto to the sheetmetal screw. It's easy to then lever it out with a pair of sidecutters.

I drilled 2 holes 180 apart. tapped in the sheetmetal screws. Then clamped on with the vise grips and pulled it out. I little prying action works well.

If it ain't broke... Good one!

How far do you want to go now? Could remove the adapter and take the seal housing out, put the new seal in on the bench.

X2, I have replaced the seal only to have to go back in and replace the adapter gasket. replace them both while you are in there, it is easier on the bench anyway.

what is the part number of the adapter gasket? Does anyone know?

Sounds like some of you are experienced in the remove/replace of the A518. Can anyone give me bullet point directions of the proper sequence of removing the A518 and the NP205? 1st time for me. hate to break something. How much has to be removed(as far as tranny lines, electrical, starter) to make room for dropping the components. What about the torque converter...how do you keep the TC intact on the tranny?
