Another NP 205 question-thrust washer replacement?

So while I am waiting for my coupler to get here, I need to tighten up the front output yoke on the t case. There is also some end-play in that shaft, and when looking at the exploded drawing, I see that there is a thrust washer at the back of that shaft assembly.

I am wondering if it is possible to replace that thrust washer without tearing down the whole t case. It looks like i should be able to pull the rear cover off of that shaft assembly and pop a new thrust washer in without disturbing any of the rest of the t case.

is this correct?

Bump.

I'm getting ready to order these parts. Can anyone tell me if I can indeed replace that thrust washer without major transfer case disassembly?

Thanks

I would have to go look at my book to be shore but i thing that if you go that wrought your be rebuilding the t-case any way cause.......i thing......the non caged needle bearing will fall into the case if you do.........I now that you can get the yok,and seal cover of with out a problem. As long as you hold the shaft in place while you remove them.

Take a good look at the pic before you dive in. I could be wrong

EDIT Sorry, i was thinking the rear out put shaft........that's what was loose on mine.

hmm...

Looking at the drawing I have, I don't see any un-caged needle bearings behind that plate.

I went ahead and ordered a new thrust washer, gaskets for front and back plates and a new front yoke seal, just for good measure. I was originally only after fixing the stripped coupler, but when i got under there, I found :

bad ujoints in the double CV joint in the front driveshaft
loose bolts that hold the driveshaft to the flange on the transfer case
loose nut holding the flange to the front output shaft
and excessive endplay in the front output shaft

Everything else about the transfer case seems tight, so i am going to go ahead and try to just fix the front output shaft stuff without messing around with anything else.

Thanks for the reply.
